Thursday: Germs, Germs, Germs ...

I am now stuck in the house for the next few days with Harry as he is contagious.

I may have cabin fever by the end of tomorrow and it is going to last for 5 to 7 days!

My poor darling got a rash today which spread rapidly (in the space of just over an hour). Luckily we were at the hospital for one of my husbands appointments so we could go to emergency and it appears he has hand, foot and mouth disease.

I rang childcare as it is a notifiable disease and they told me we were the second call of the day and the third this week! Apparently they had a child in his room last week with the disease who returned before their blisters were dry. Instead of sending them home again they let them stay - so now there is an outbreak in his room!

My poor boy has the blisters all in his mouth which is making it painful for him to eat and drink. He is only wanting chilled custard etc that is easy to swallow.

I am torn between being very annoyed that due to another parents selfish behaviour I have to take time off work to look my son. But, I also appreciate that in this day and age it is difficult to take time off work, and you need to get your kids back to childcare as soon as possible.

Having said that I am also not happy that childcare did not step up and demand that the infectious child be taken home again.

As, my son can't be with my husband by himself (Dr's orders due to the seizure risk) I have to stay in the house to look after him. I didn't even get to go and do the groceries. I am inside with him for at least five days so cabin fever here I come ...
